UF study identifies immune cells that may help sustain T1D attack

A new study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation revealed how UF researchers are working to understand what causes certain immune cells to attack insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells in Type 1 diabetes. Led by Leeana Peters, Ph.D., the team analyzed tissue samples from nPOD to pinpoint potential targets of an autoimmune attack. Identifying these sites allowed researchers to locate areas that may respond well to new therapies capable of halting the disease process in its tracks.

Congratulations to the entire research team on this publication!
