We are pleased to announce Dr. Nadja Makki and Dr. Stephanie Karst as the winners of the inaugural 2025 UFDI Seed Funding grants. By providing resources to generate preliminary data and an extramural grant proposal, these grants support researchers proposing innovative ideas across UF. Nadja Makki’s project entitled Unraveling Genetic Drivers of Type 1 Diabetes and Stephanie Karst’s project Milk Bile Acids as Endocrine Signals that Protect Offspring from Maternal Obesity-Induced Glucose Intolerance via Neonatal IGF-1 will lead the way for a legacy of UFDI-funded research.
