In his presidential address at the American Diabetes Association (ADA) 76th Scientific Sessions in New Orleans, LA, Dr, Schatz explains that we must not be complacent towards diabetes research and education. Dr. Schatz states that “diabetes is the ‘global warming’ of health care, yet infectious diseases and other epidemics grab the spotlight making diabetes an “invisible disease.” Dr. Schatz emphasizes that the time is now to approach diabetes with the same kind of urgency and energy that water creates when boiling (212 degrees).
