Former Gator and current NBA player Corey Brewer supports his alma mater, The University of Florida, to raise money for education and awareness to prevent diabetes. He established the Corey Brewer Foundation to help those who have been affected by the disease. Each year, Corey showcases his pride and passion for youth and sports hosting the annual ‘Back2Back’ Instructional Basketball Camp in Gainesville, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the UF Diabetes Institute. Corey is also a member of the UFDI Ambassadors Council. » UF Health Diabetes Education Fund

Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE) are specialists certified in teaching people how to manage diabetes. They are an invaluable asset to those who need to learn the tools and skills necessary to control blood sugar and prevent long-term complications. A CDE is also typically a nurse, dietitian, exercise physiologist, pharmacist, or social worker who has further specialized in diabetes education and care management. Formal education and years of practical experience are required, in addition to a formal examination. Because of the financial components related to this training and the ongoing need for new CDE’s, we have established this fund on their behalf. To make a gift, please click here.
