Children with Diabetes
The mission of Children with Diabetes, Inc. is to promote understanding of the care and treatment of diabetes, especially in children; to increase awareness of the need for unrestricted diabetes care for children at school and daycare; to support families living with diabetes; and to promote understanding of research into a cure.

Diapedia
Diapedia is an open-access, peer-reviewed, unbiased and up-to-date knowledge base about all aspects of diabetes mellitus. Diapedia has been created thanks to contributions made by a worldwide network of diabetes professionals, including research investigators from the University of Florida.

Florida Diabetes Camp
Florida Diabetes Camp FCCYD serves youth ages 6-18 at its six summer sessions and at family weekend sessions throughout the year.

Healthline
Healthline provides a very comprehensive overview of Type 2 Diabetes as a critical starting point for individuals and/or their loved ones, including essential information on diet & nutrition, recipes, fitness & lifestyle, & more.

Huffington Post
The Huffington Post devotes an entire section of their website to Diabetes, including the latest news in research, treatment options, lifestyle choices, and more.

Just for Parents
Just for parents is an online program designed to help parents better understand, relate to, and support their teenager with type 1 diabetes. The program is designed to help parents evaluate the amount and kind of distress they may be experiencing, understand what might be contributing to it, and provide tips to help deal with it. Parents can take a brief (and anonymous) online  assessment, and will then receive personalized results, information, and opportunities to participate in informative webinars. The website includes a list of “Six Important Facts Every Parent of a Type 1 Teen Should Know.”

T1D  Exchange Biobank
By centralizing thousands of biological samples—together with clinical, demographic, and study-derived information—the T1D Exchange Biobank aims to be a world-class resource for innovative research, and a catalyst for exchange of knowledge and collaboration.

JDRF
The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

Smoking Cessation Program – Alachua County
While smoking is bad for your health, it is especially harmful for people with diabetes. No matter how much or how long you have smoked, quitting will lower your risk of heart disease and other health problems.

University of Florida Department of Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatrics consists of a dynamic and growing faculty dedicated to the highest quality patient care, research, and educational activity devoted to improving the health of Florida’s children.

University of South Florida Diabetes Center
The University of South Florida collaborates with the UF Diabetes Institute on research as well as camps put on throughout the year for individuals with type 1 diabetes.

Viacord
ViaCord is spearheading research for juvenile diabetes with the umbilical cord blood cells they collect; they have a wealth of information on their site.


Nutrition

Diabetes diet plans are available at the ADA website.

The CDC’s website for nutrition covers a wide variety of topics related to good nutrition.

Information regarding healthy eating and new, easy diabetic recipes can be found at dLife.

Can I eat this?..Meal planning and tips by the ADA.

WebMD provides some healthy snack ideas for Type 2 diabetics and tips for avoiding foods that may be harmful.


Health and Fitness

Regular exercise can be key in helping you manage your diabetes. The ADA offers some thoughts on how much and what kind of exercise may be beneficial for you, as well as some simple but helpful stretches you can do anywhere.

Information regarding the benefits of exercise, even with diabetes, and expert advice on being active.
