Parking

  • Free parking on weeknights, weekends, and holidays
  • $4 (cash only) daily parking fee on weekdays in East, West, and Medical Plaza Parking garages (pay upon exiting the garage)
  • Valet parking $6.00 (Available at Main Entrance)
  • Parking is free to patients at the Children’s Medical Services Building on SW 16th Avenue (which is directly across from the VA hospital)

Directions

From I-75

  1. 1. SR-24 exit 384 to Gainesville/Archer
  2. 2. East on Archer Road for approximately three miles.
  3. 3. For Main Entrance – Left at SW 16 Street Traffic Light (valet/patient drop off)
  4. 4. For East Visitor’s Parking Garage – Left at Newell Drive Traffic Light (parking garage immediately on Right)

From South or North 441 (13th Street)

  1. 1. West on SR-24 (Archer Road)
  2. 2. For East Visitor’s Parking Garage – Right at first traffic light, Newell Drive (parking garage immediately on Right)
  3. 3. For Main Entrance – Right at SW 16 Street Traffic Light (valet/patient drop off)

From 301 South

  1. 1. Right onto FL-24 (Waldo Rd.)
  2. 2. Right on FL-26 (East University Avenue)
  3. 3. Left on SW 13 Street (HWY 441)
  4. 4. Veer Right onto Archer Road
  5. 5. For East Visitor’s Parking Garage – Right at first traffic light, Newell Drive (parking garage immediately on Right)
  6. 6. For Main Entrance – Right at SW 16 Street Traffic Light (valet/patient drop off)

From SR 26 (University Avenue/Newberry Road)

  1. 1. South on SW 13 Street (HWY 441)
  2. 2. Veer Right onto Archer Road
  3. 3. For East Visitor’s Parking Garage – Right at first traffic light, Newell Drive (parking garage immediately on Right)
  4. 4. For Main Entrance – Right at SW 16 Street Traffic Light (valet/patient drop off)

Biomedical Science Building

Directions to the Diabetes Center of Excellence offices:
Note: Call (352) 265-8228 for questions related to visiting Shands at Med Plaza or at the Biomedical Science Building.
Shands at Med Plaza is the location for Diabetes clinics.

The BMS Building (shown at point A) is just north of the UF Medical Center/Shands Hospital on Center Drive.

 

Directions from I-75:

From NORTH of Gainesville take I-75 SOUTH get off at exit 384 (Archer Rd / SR 24). As you exit I-75 you will turn left (East) onto Archer Rd.

From SOUTH of Gainesville take I-75 NORTH get off at exit 384 (Archer Rd / SR 24). As you exit I-75 you will turn right (East) onto Archer Rd.

Go several miles east on Archer Road and look for the stop light at Center Drive, where you will turn left to get to the BMS Building. As you approach Center Drive on Archer Road, you will pass Gale Lemerand Drive and will then see the VA Hospital on your right, and a huge red brick building (The UF Medical Center / Shands Hospital) on your left.

Parking:

Looking at the map above, you can park at Garage 2, Garage 3 or Garage 10 (this on is farthest from the BMS Building). Parking is free after 5 PM.

There is also very limited free parking along the Center Drive after 5pm.
