UF researchers to study gut bacteria and T1D

A group of UF researchers will use a new $3.3 million grant to evaluate safety, tolerability, and general response to the probiotic Lactobacillus johnsonii N6.2 in people with T1D. The scientists aim to determine if the probiotic has a positive impact on gastrointestinal health and general wellness for individuals with T1D.

Diabetes Forecast People to Know 2019

Ashby Walker, Ph.D., director for health equity initiatives at the UF Diabetes Institute, was named as one of Diabetes Forecast Magazine's People to Know 2019! Dr. Walker was recognized for the Directed Research in Type 1 Diabetes class she developed for University of Florida students who have a personal connection to type 1 diabetes.

University of Florida Health Shands Children’s Hospital has been nationally ranked in five medical specialties, making significant gains in three areas — pediatric cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, and diabetes/endocrinology, according to the 2019-20 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report.
