Published: April 8th, 2013

When Grant Bello tested positive for type 1 diabetes antibodies and met eligibility criteria, parents Adam and Dani were given the opportunity to enroll him in the TrialNet Oral Insulin Study. The study aims to determine whether taking an oral insulin capsule everyday can help delay or prevent type 1 diabetes in hopes of moving forward to a cure.

To be eligible, participants must first enroll in the TrialNet Natural History Study. Those who test positive or are identified to be at increased risk of acquiring the disease are offered the opportunity to participate in other research studies which test for ways to delay and prevent type 1 diabetes. Screening is the first step on the path to prevention. Call 877-343-2377 to schedule an appointment.
